The Sigma 500mm f4.5 EX Apo belongs to the EX series of high quality lenses. The optical design of this apochromatic ultra-telephoto lens features two extra-low dispersion glass elements (Abbe number 90.3) that minimize chromatic aberration and provide a high maximum aperture (F4.5). Thanks to the internal focus system, fast and precise focus is possible. Autofocus lenses for Sigma SA, Canon and Nikon mounts are equipped with a silent ultrasonic drive HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor). A rotating holder at the rear of the lens simplifies the use of filters, including polarizing filters. It is possible to use the lens with Sigma teleconverters (APO Tele Converter 1.4x MF and 2x MF), and with the Canon EOS3 camera, the 1.4x teleconverter allows autofocus. All optical elements of the lens are made of environmentally friendly glass without lead and arsenic.
