if you need a “quiet” keyboard, then this is it. I was looking for something quiet like a laptop, and they recommended just such a model. Yes, quiet, comfortable, protected from splashing water and with pleasant tactile plastic. The roller button for volume control adds satisfaction to use. The skeleton-type design really appeals to me. A good budget keyboard, if not the best in its price segment. I do not recommend opting for cheaper options from unknown companies. The keyboard is marketed as silent, but that is not the case; it is quite noisy, so keep that in mind if you are looking for a silent keyboard. I only have an English keyboard layout because I specifically wanted that, and I found it in one of the stores. In many games, I have achieved quite good results, so I can recommend it. A++ level gaming membrane
In 2020, the skilled Danes from SteelSeries have completely updated their range of keyboards, releasing a whole scattering of various models of the Apex line. By tradition, the devices turned out to be of high quality, interesting and expensive. For example, the Apex 3 that fell into our hands is a classic full-size membrane that costs about $100 and is in fact in the big leagues, but at the same time is the youngest model in the updated Apex family.
Whisper Quiet switches feel vaguely Cherry Red
Apart from the overall high level of performance, the coolness of Apex 3 is manifested in a bunch of little things that you don't pay attention to at first. SteelSeries is one of the few companies that lists switch models not only for mechanical keyboards, but also for membrane keyboards. In this case, Whisper Quiet switches are used, which feel vaguely reminiscent of classic Cherry Red. The stabilization of the caps is excellent, it is difficult to accidentally miss them. Responsiveness and tactile feedback are also very good, it is comfortable to play even after familiar mechanics. It's only inconvenient that the left Shift was shortened. I also liked the zonal backlighting of the keys, which not only shines with all the colours of the rainbow, but also performs a functional role - it can signal received messages in Discord or a critical state of health in the game.
Convenient removable stand with magnetic latches
Visually, SteelSeries Apex 3 looks interesting. There is nothing unusual about the high black keycaps, but the white base under the keys looks at least unusual. To control the audio-video player, there is a dedicated volume wheel and a general multimedia button. For brushes, a removable stand with magnetic latches is provided. Drainage holes are located along the bottom to drain accidentally trapped moisture. Add the excellent SteelSeries Engine 3 software for macros, gaming profiles and backlighting to this list and you have one of the most comfortable, thoughtful and functional membrane keyboards in years. Yes, the price is too high, there are enough competitors even among mechanical models, but it is very problematic to find such a set of characteristics. The only thing that comes to mind is the Razer Cynosa V2.
