The device's hardware platform is based on an enterprise-level chipset from Qualcomm Atheros, which works in conjunction with special directional antennas that provide signal amplification up to 13 dBi.

The special weatherproof housing design (IPX5) and Power-over-Ethernet power support ensure uninterrupted operation of the TP-LINK CPE510 access point in any climate in the temperature range from -40 to +80 °C. For WAN connection, it is equipped with a 10/100BASE-T Fast Ethernet port.
