Compact and durable 2.5″ internal hard drive from the 2017 WD Blue 2.5″ line of consumer mobile HDDs. This family includes models from 500 GB to 2 TB, which are optimized for a wide range of everyday tasks. Positioned as a product of the basic price category, designed for use in laptops and entry-level mobile workstations (with a low load on the disk subsystem). Suitable for home and office configurations.
The WD Blue 2.5″ WD10SPZX hard drive can be used as a system drive or paired with a faster SSD drive. A capacity of 1000 GB is enough to store files of working projects, moderate volumes of HD / UHD-resolution media content and colorful modern games. Equipped with an energy-efficient controller that works in conjunction with a large buffer (128 MB). This model uses tiled magnetic recording (SMR) technology to achieve high capacity, and the magnetic platters themselves rotate at a speed of 5400 rpm. This provides low heat dissipation (up to 1.5 W) with active use, which is important for dense mobile computer layouts. Connects to SATA3 port, backwards compatible with SATA and SATA2 interfaces.

If you use this drive as a system disk or as a backup for all your data and only use the disk for these purposes, then it's quite a good drive. But if you want to use it as a second drive that you constantly work with, it's better to look at a drive from another company, like a 1TB Seagate equivalent. I use the drive in a laptop as a second disk, and it took some extra effort to tame it so that it doesn't stop working altogether (additional inconveniences). Quiet, thin, price. - Disk stops after 8 seconds of inactivity (parking) if used as a second disk or removable media. WD has a DOS program that allowed earlier versions of their disks to change the default parking timer from 8 seconds to a maximum of 5 minutes. This model's program can't change this parameter as the disk is not supported. Using this article https://habr.com/ru/post/414271/ and the program described in the article, I managed to tame the disk in my laptop so it doesn't stop at all. - After the disk stops, it takes about ~1.5 seconds to spin up again when accessed, which is very noticeable during operation and irritates due to freezing (slowdowns) while the disk spins up. use WD Blue 2.5" month or more i recommend it don't buy |
Good storage but nothing special Cache volume Speed of revolutions, only 5400 revolutions per minute. If you take for a laptop - take a model with 7200 rpm, you will see the difference |
I've been using computers for twenty-five years, and this is the first drive that failed on me during use. The interesting part is that I used it relatively little. Prior to this, I had drives from Western Digital, both the Blue and Green series. All of them have been working for more than 5 years, almost every day. This one, however, lasted about two years with inactive use because my primary system is a PC, and the laptop served as an auxiliary system. One day, I noticed that Windows started loading very slowly. Everything works, but it's really slow. It feels like instead of 5400 RPM, the disk is spinning at barely 500 RPM. Meanwhile, the computer is straining to do anything and start up. (No, it's not overheating). I reinstalled the system. It didn't help. I took a disk from another laptop, swapped it and started up. Everything was fine. The speed returned, everything launches, nothing lags. It only worked for about two years. That's really short. The laptop was never dropped and was almost always used in a home environment. So, I wouldn't recommend this HDD, it's very unreliable in my opinion. Got it as part of a laptop Duzhe shvidko died. |
