In addition, removable cards make it easy to share data with other devices, such as tablets or laptops. On the other hand, memory cards work noticeably slower than built-in storage, and not every phone allows you to install applications on them. Thus, it makes sense to use such cards predominantly for multimedia content — photos, videos and music.
Also note that when buying a device with this feature, it's necessary to clarify the type of supported cards. So, the most popular microSD standard nowadays actually includes three formats — the original microSD with a capacity of up to 4 GB, the later microSDHC (up to 32 GB) and even more recent microSDXC (up to 128 GB and even more); if the phone supports one of new formats — it is compatible with older ones, but not vice versa. And some modern smartphones (predominantly by Huawei) use newer Nano Memory cards (colloquially — Nano SD).
