Smartphones with a fingerprint scanner on the side
Side
— the scanner is located on the side of the device.Modern smartphones have a very small body depth; therefore, the side sensor is usually made oblong. Also note that to save space, the scanner can be built into one of the side buttons.
The main advantage of this arrangement can be called a neat appearance of the case: there are no “extra” elements on either the front or the rear panel (besides, there is no need to provide a large bottom bezel under the screen on the front side), and the scanner on the side end itself is hardly noticeable. On the other hand, such sensors are usually located on the right side of the case (when viewed from the side of the screen) and are designed to hold the smartphone with the right hand: with this grip, they are quite comfortable, but when using the left hand, difficulties can arise. In addition, having to swipe your finger across the sensor can be inconvenient.
