Smartphones with AMOLED screens
AMOLED
— organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panel technology developed by Samsung.One of the key differences between all OLED panels (including this variety) and more traditional screens (for example, IPS) is that in this case each pixel itself is a light source, and the panel does not need a separate backlight. This allows you to reduce the thickness of the screen and achieve wide viewing angles. Specifically, AMOLED screens have excellent brightness and contrast ratios, high colour reproduction quality, as well as a very short response time. Due to this, such screens continue to be used in modern smartphones, even despite the existence of more advanced technologies; they can be found even in top-tier models.
As for the disadvantages, in addition to the relatively high cost, panels of this type have uneven wear: the more often and longer a pixel works at high brightness, the faster it burns out. However, in most AMOLED screens, this effect becomes noticeable only after several years of intensive use — a period comparable to the life cycle of the smartphone itself.
