In February 2024, the Chinese giant Xiaomi presented the 14th generation of its flagship smartphones. Unlike last year, Xiaomi presented two improved versions of the Xiaomi 14 model at once: one received the “Pro” prefix, the second - “Ultra”. Both use a high-end 6.73-inch panel with 2K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support with Dolby Vision and impressive peak brightness. At the same time, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra version supports DC Dimming technology, and instead of Gorilla Glass Victus protective glass, the screen is covered with a completely new type of Longjing Glass, which, according to Xiaomi, can be used to hammer nails.

The main camera in Xiaomi 14 Pro is represented by three sensors with the same resolution of 50 MP, an improved optical stabilization system and support for video recording in “4K + 60 FPS” mode. In turn, Xiaomi 14 Ultra has similar characteristics, but the sensors are higher level, there is an additional lens with a Sony IMX858 sensor, and the main camera supports a sliding aperture, which allows the user to adjust it in the range from f/1.62 to f/4.0.

Otherwise, these are quite expensive by Xiaomi standards, devilishly sophisticated smartphones, created to compete with firmware from Samsung and Apple. The list of additional features can stretch for several pages, so let’s go over the most important ones. Both smartphones are equipped with powerful wired and wireless charging. For example, Xiaomi 14 Ultra can wirelessly transmit up to 80 W of energy, fully charging the battery in 46 minutes. They also boast support for Wi-Fi 7, are equipped with NFC chips, IP68 water protection and high-quality stereo speakers with aptX Adaptive. Plus, Xiaomi 14 and 14 Ultra are satellite-compatible.
