RAID 10

— this version is a combination of RAID 0 and RAID 1: a RAID 0 array built not from single disks, but from "mirror" pairs of RAID 1 format. For more information about both versions, see the corresponding paragraphs. The RAID 10 array is characterized by both high performance and reliability — it can survive the failure of half of the drives, if these drives are in different mirror pairs, while the performance will not suffer much. Among the shortcomings, one can note the high redundancy characteristic of RAID 1 (the usable volume is only half of the total volume of drives), as well as the need for at least 4 disks.
