Intel Core i5-11400 — Six physical cores and twelve virtual threads make this processor suitable for professional video editing and 3D modeling. And the progressive architecture of Cypress Cove, which is almost 20% superior to Skylake, performs well even in the most demanding games.

De jure, the Core i5-11400 consumes only 65 watts of electricity and generates about the same amount of heat. But de facto Turbo Boost technology automatically increases the frequency by half a minute, which leads to a jump in TDP to 150 watts. Therefore, a miniature boxed cooler is an exclusively temporary solution, until you buy a tower or, better, a dropsy.

The new technology of unrestricted auto-overclocking Velocity Boost allows you to turn the Core i5-11400 into a permanent 150-watt. But this also places high demands on the motherboard, namely on the quantity and quality of power phases. Be sure to have radiators on the VRM. The base chipset H510 is obviously not enough here, you need a mid-level B560.
Graphics card in addition
The Core i5-11400 also has an integrated UHD 730 graphics accelerator based on the Intel Xe architecture. Unlike more powerful laptop counterparts, Intel Xe desktop graphics have only 32 clusters, which is why it loses to the rival Radeon Vega. But it supports hardware playback of the latest AV1 video codec.
