Nikon's Top Mirrorless Camera

At the top of Nikon's mirrorless camera lineup is the flagship Z9, while its compact counterpart is the Nikon Z8.

Full-frame multi-layer matrix

The camera has a full-frame multi-layer matrix with a resolution of 45.7 MP, providing fast data reading. The sensor is paired with a powerful EXPEED 7 processor, which reveals all the possibilities for both serial photography and video recording. In reportage shooting mode, the camera can take pictures at a speed of up to 20 frames per second in RAW format. Photos can be saved to XQD / CFExpress type B cards or to UHS-II SD cards - the model has a double slot.

Precise autofocus

The camera is completely devoid of a mechanical shutter, and the electronic shutter allows silent shooting. The working range of ISO is from 64 to 25600 units. A notable feature is the 493-point autofocus system, which supports focusing on the eyes, faces and heads of people, as well as birds and animals. Autofocus also successfully recognizes vehicles and even airplanes. In the "Starlight View" mode, autofocus works in lighting conditions down to -9EV.

Shooting 8K video

The Nikon Z8 features built-in matrix stabilization, providing up to 6 shutter stops when using stabilized optics, which will be useful for both photography and video shooting. The camera is capable of recording video in 8K at 60 fps in N-RAW format, and when using H.265 compression, you can shoot 8K video at up to 30 fps. When shooting in 4K, you can record to memory cards in ProRes RAW HQ (12 bit) and ProRes 422 HQ (10 bit) formats, for which you will need a fast flash drive.

Ergonomics and functionality

The model features advanced ergonomics and has an auxiliary information screen on the top panel, an OLED viewfinder without darkening, and a 3.2-inch touch screen on a swivel hinge. In terms of ergonomics, the mirrorless camera is thought out to the smallest detail. It has replaced the once ideal Nikon D850 SLR camera and has every chance of becoming just as popular among professional photographers.
