Powerful tower air cooler for CPU cooling. It is a special black version of the popular Noctua NH-U12S cooler, which differs only in colour. The design provides for a traditional U-shaped layout of five copper heat pipes, the upper and middle parts of which are soldered to a large single-section aluminium radiator. For quiet / silent operation, a perfectly balanced 120mm Noctua NF-F12 PWM fan with a seven-blade impeller is used.

Thanks to PWM control, its rotation speed can be changed from 300 to 1500 rpm, and the proprietary SSO2 fluid dynamic bearing with magnetic stabilization ensures impressive durability and surprisingly low noise level (22 dB at maximum speed). The Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black CPU cooler can easily dissipate up to 170W of heat and handle an impressive range of Intel Mainstream, Performance and High-End Desktop processors. Due to moderate overall dimensions (height 158 mm) and weight of 755 g, the cooler is compatible with most full-size MiniTower/MiddleTower cases with a width of 180 mm or more.

Dark matter

Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black is an updated black version of the proven NH-12s mid-sized tower CPU cooler from the renowned Austrian brand. It's not exactly a tiny low-profile cooler, but it's not a giant 1kg tower either. The height of the cooler is the standard 15.8 cm, and the weight is a moderate 755 g. And even with the fan installed, it does not block the RAM slots at all.

Copper pipes

The NH-U12S chromax.black consists of aluminium fins, five copper heat pipes and also a copper intermediary plate, nickel-plated and perfectly polished to a mirror finish. Most competing narrow towers have only three or four heat pipes. In addition, Noctua coolers, in our opinion, have the easiest and most convenient motherboard mounting mechanism called SecuFirm2. A long thin screwdriver is included.

Universal mount

Almost all modern and not very processor sockets are supported: Intel LGA1151, LGA1150, LGA2066, LGA2011-v3, AMD AM4, AM3+, etc. The only exception is the highly specialized AMD TR4, but it requires two or even three-section liquid cooling system. This cooler is blown by a Noctua NF-F12 PWM chromax.black fan with a diameter of 12 cm and a rotation speed of 300 to 1500 rpm (1200 if you use the bundled LNA adapter).

Silent Ninja

The fan is based on the proprietary Noctua SSO2 hydrodynamic bearing, which will last at least 150,000 hours. Even at maximum speed with an air flow of 93.4 m³ / h, the noise level does not exceed 22.4 dB. The compact Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black also has an older brother — a double-tower supercooler NH-D15 chromax.black with two 14-cm turntables and a weight of 1.3 kg. We recommend it for those who want to experiment with extreme overclocking.
