Modern touch displays are designed primarily for finger control, but this is not always convenient, because the accuracy of such touches is low. The stylus, on the other hand, provides higher accuracy, which can be useful for some tasks, such as drawing or digitizing a signature. Phones with a stylus often have a slot for it right in the body — this reduces the likelihood of losing the pen.
