Initially, P Smart smartphones were part of the premium Huawei P family and tried to solve an exorbitant task — to transfer the excitement of using the flagship to the low-cost segment. Without "wow" features and advanced hardware, but with the same attitude towards design, case materials and assembly. As a result, they turned out to be presentable, light and stylish smartphones; in fact, they have little in common with their ancestors. Given the fivefold difference in price, this is not surprising. Therefore, in 2019, the P Smart line gained independence.

A typical representative of the series is a neat and stylish phablet that looks suspiciously like the Huawei P30 or P40 Pro. Perhaps its main advantage is a well-balanced balance between appearance, power and capabilities. Having bought one, an ordinary user will not have to regret that the processor lags in Fruit Ninja, the camera shoots like in 2008, NFC was never brought here, and the graininess of the display constantly creeps into the eyes.

It seems that Huawei is constantly gathering focus groups and listening to user requests, trying to derive a formula for a “people's” smartphone. The 2021 update has everything that fans have been asking for: the set of camera modules has expanded, the battery capacity has grown to the required 5000 mAh, a USB-C port has appeared, but the minijack has not disappeared. Finally got fast charging. What more could you want from a $150 phone? The only negative is that it is almost always a gigantic smartphone with the largest possible display (6.4 — 6.7"), this is not for everyone.

P Smart remains true to its roots, so the series updates here follow the same scenario as the Huawei P premium line. That is, there is one global update per year, and a little later, the time comes for slightly redesigned Pro and Plus versions. Sometimes plans change and the series is diluted with unscheduled models with a slight touch of experimentation. Released in early 2019, the Huawei P Smart Z pioneered pop-up front cameras. And the 2020 model Huawei P Smart S got hold of an unprecedented OLED screen for the lower-middle class.
