— digital format that has recently become the de facto generally accepted standard for broadcast television in the post-Soviet countries (the previous DVB-T standard is not widespread). If you want to use monitor to watch “regular” terrestrial TV in digital format, you will almost certainly need model with DVB-T2 support. However tuners of this standard are also available as separate devices, but the built-in module is more compact, easier to use, and often also cheaper. In general, all digital terrestrial standards (including DVB-T2) have number of advantages over analogue ones. Firstly, they provide high bandwidth, which makes it possible to transmit content in high definition with multi-channel sound (in fact, HD standards were originally developed specifically for digital TV). Secondly, the image quality does not depend on the signal level: the picture and sound are either reproduced in full quality or not reproduced at all, while for the broadcast to fail, the signal must drop to very low, almost zero level. Thirdly, the digital channel is much less susceptible to interference.
