Transferring individual functions and settings to a mechanical disk facilitates and speeds up control: instead of delving into the menu, it is enough to set the desired parameter on the disk. Most often, there is only one such control, but some cameras provide two disks at once. This means that there are numerous settings in the “quick access”, which can be very useful in some cases (for example, when shooting reportage, when you have to quickly change the settings to change the situation). The exact distribution of functions between discs may differ depending on the camera model. At the same time, an additional disk complicates and increases the cost of the design, so this function is typical mainly for advanced cameras.
