Image stabilization

— image stabilization helps to compensate for camera shake when shooting without a tripod, thus preventing the appearance of "shake" in the pictures. There are several types of stabilizers — optical, electronic, with a matrix shift, combined; their features are described in detail in special sources. However, anyway, this feature greatly simplifies handheld shooting, especially at high magnification.

Note that the absence of this function in a SLR or mirrorless camera (see "Camera type") is not critical: there are many interchangeable lenses with built-in stabilizers. Although, of course, the most effective will be a combination of two stabilization systems — in the lens and in the camera.
