A video-oriented mirrorless camera with an APS-C image sensor, unified with the older full-frame brother Sony FX3. In the “inside” of the model, a 26 MP BSI CMOS back-illuminated matrix is installed. The native range of its light sensitivity is measured in the range from 100 to 32000 ISO units, in the extended mode you can squeeze ISO 50 - 102400 out of the camera. The model is entirely focused on video shooting, carried out at a maximum frame resolution of 3840x2160 pixels at 60 fps by oversampling video from 6K.
With cropped images of about 1.62x in 4K format, you can squeeze out a frame rate of up to 120 fps. The camera supports 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 subsampling with H.264 AVC or H.265 codecs, and 16-bit RAW video can be recorded on an external recorder. In addition, the operator has access to matrix image stabilization systems with an efficiency of 5.5 stops of exposure and digital image stabilization at the post-production stage in proprietary Catalyst Desktop software (using metadata from accelerometers).
In terms of photography, the Sony FX30 body is not capable of burst photography and shooting uncompressed RAW. The camera also has a fully electronic shutter and no viewfinder. Autofocus in the model uses 90% of the sensor area and 759 focus points. There is automatic focusing on the eyes in real time for people, animals and birds, and when shooting video, in addition, the mode for reducing the effect of focus “breathing” plays an important role. In the Body configuration, the camera is supplied without a complete lens.
