Model overview based on user reviews
The Canon EOS 7D kit 18-55 is highly praised for its fast shooting and focusing capabilities, making it suitable for both amateurs and professionals. Users appreciate its reliability and comfortable handling, even in challenging conditions like dusty winds and rain. The camera offers excellent detail and sharpness, with noise being minimal at ISO 3200. It features a wide shutter speed range and high resolution, and its autofocus is described as fast and precise. However, some users note that the ISO performance could be better and the LiveView mode focusing is slow. The camera's build quality is robust, with a metallic body and intuitive controls. While the menu can be confusing initially, the camera's overall performance and features, such as 1080p video capability, make it a standout choice in its price range. Despite some limitations in video autofocus and noise at higher ISOs, the Canon EOS 7D remains a top choice for those seeking high-quality photos and a reliable DSLR experience.

Simply - the best

I took the body, purchased 16-35 L2 earlier, installed it, a few clicks and... no words, just super, great detail, sharpness and everything else... loaded it into the computer - I still don’t believe that such quality is possible, It’s not for nothing that I received this year’s Tipa (TIPA 2010), I dreamed of a 2nd brand, but the thing of greenery is a noticeable difference in price. The first impression is just a bomb, my hands are itching, my imagination is already in a hurry :), in a word - I recommend it to everyone.

the device is really for professionals...
Excellent detail. At ISO 3200 noise is almost invisible. Fast. An excellent choice in its price range.
it's a pity that the matrix is not complete....

The choice in this price category is very correct and in the future you will understand this more

Study this device and everything that at first seemed difficult will become absolutely accessible. Naturally, 7D is for advanced photographers. I photograph only in RAW. Those nuances that creep out in noise under difficult shooting conditions are easily eliminated in Photoshop. The instructions indicated completely honestly - 7d is fully revealed only with L class lenses. I took test pictures with two lenses, this is indeed true. The resolution and white balance are different for the two lenses. But of course this is not particularly noticeable in the 10-15 cm photo. I am 55 years old, I have been doing photography since I was 10 years old , but not as a professional. I used to be fond of filming, developed color film. I probably took the 7d as a very advanced amateur and didn’t regret it. I didn’t particularly use sights for video shooting, but with such video quality, I shot a lot of films. I strongly recommend it to those who wants to get high-quality photos, shoot in RAW and process them in Photoshop. Japanese engineers have released a really excellent model. I watch with interest the battles between Nikonists and Canonists to find all the advantages of cameras in the price category of 5-10 thousand dollars, in cameras in this price category (including 7D). Miracles do not happen and film cameras, even cheap ones, also have their advantages. Most likely, you can firmly take any model only if you clearly know what this or that technical function reveals. And probably by exploiting this or that technique for a certain time. I come to my own conclusion - there is no universal technique, especially at an affordable price. That’s why there are disputes.
I’ve been using the 7D for two years. I bought a 24-105 L class lens, before that there was a 18-135 ef lens. Fast lightning focus. Wide shutter speed range, high resolution, many useful functions. Everything that is written about the advantages is absolutely true. With the 18 lens -135 fell from a tripod to the ground, was not fully secured to the tripod. The lens fell onto the ground (medium-density ground) and turned over. As if it never fell. I’m sure it’s not a professional device, most likely it couldn’t stand it. After that it works for a year- flawlessly. I go on vacation to the river to relax, I didn’t take pictures in the rain. They write that they filmed all day in the wet snow, I have no doubt. I installed the latest firmware (if I’m not mistaken, 2012) and it works perfectly. The device is worth the money. Before this I had Canon 350. I thoroughly reviewed all devices in this price category, including Nikon. The longer I use the 7D, the more I understand the advantages of professional equipment.
The disadvantages, like all crop cameras, are the range of light sensitivity.

From the press release:

Canon introduces the EOS 7D digital camera, an all-new camera designed to meet professional requirements. In addition to Canon's new 18-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor, the EOS 7D is equipped with the following features: dual DIGIC 4 processors for fast and high-quality shooting in various lighting conditions, an ISO sensitivity range that can be extended up to 12,800, and function of continuous shooting at a speed of 8 frames per second without the use of additional accessories. The model is distinguished by impressive technology and excellent build quality, opening up completely new photographic possibilities.

Image Accuracy — High-performance autofocus and metering systems
The camera is equipped with 19 crosshair AF points that allow photographers to capture precise shots and optimize composition. An advanced autofocus system provides a range of manual and automatic settings, including Zone AF and Spot AF modes, allowing you to track and capture subjects quickly and accurately. Autofocus settings are user-selectable, allowing for quick response to changes during shooting. You can set different AF points for vertical and horizontal positions, allowing you to automatically switch between landscape and portrait shots without pressing any buttons.

The EOS 7D also features a new metering system. The Focus Chroma and Luminance Metering System (iFCL) intelligently measures focus, chrominance, and luminance in 63 zones. In addition to the 19 AF points, the dual-layer sensor can collect data from each well-defined area for more accurate exposure.

The picture is exactly what you see
The Canon EOS 7D is equipped with an Intelligent Viewfinder that guarantees 100% coverage of your subject. With a 1x zoom1 – a first for an EOS camera – photographers see a large, bright image for a perfect shot. Transmissive LCD pixels built into the viewfinder allow you to choose between different overlay options (such as AF points, spot metering, and composition grid) and use a range of assistive tools to define image boundaries. For the first time ever, an EOS-based camera is equipped with a dual-axis electronic level (on the viewfinder and LCD screen) that indicates tilt and pan angles. This feature is especially useful when shooting landscapes to align the sky line, or when using tilt and shift lenses to align the camera.

The camera is equipped with a new 3-inch Clear View II LCD screen with a solid structure. The absence of glare is achieved by eliminating the air gap between the protective cover of the LCD screen and the liquid crystal. The viewing angle of the new display is 160 degrees and does not decrease even in bright conditions. The bright light sensor (same as in the EOS 5D Mark II) located on the side of the screen can automatically adjust the brightness according to the shooting conditions.

Creative experiments with lighting
The Canon EOS 7D is equipped with a built-in Speedlite transmitter. For the first time on an EOS-based camera, photographers can control an external flash without additional accessories. Perfect for those who like to experiment creatively with lighting settings. The EOS 7D also features an advanced manual built-in flash and a wider range, including a 15mm focal length.

Personalizing your photography with custom settings
The EOS 7D was conceived and designed with professional needs in mind. With its aesthetic characteristics and ergonomics, the camera guarantees maximum return. Photographers can personalize the shooting process. The user can independently configure the camera by assigning the most frequently used functions and settings to convenient buttons. This saves time when capturing critical moments through quick setup.
