Which Garmin Smartwatch to Choose: A Guide to the Lineups (Part 1)Comparison of Garmin's main product lines: advantages, differences between models, and alternatives from other brands.

Smart or classic watches: What to choose? The main differences between a traditional and smart watches
I don't like taking my favorite mechanical watches on hiking trips, especially in the mountains. But this model is just made for such outdoor activities. Of course, it will please military personnel just as much, and I couldn't care less about its low visibility in the infrared spectrum. However, the GPS navigation and route management are top-notch here. I rate the exterior design as a 10 out of 10. It's sleek, functional, and somewhat rugged. It looks very convincing on a man's wrist. The case is made from shock-resistant plastic and metal, and is completely waterproof, allowing you to swim and dive up to 50 m deep, and it's also dust and dirt resistant. The glass is sapphire (!). The screen is a simple transflective one, with a resolution of just 70 by 70 pixels. However, it is always readable everywhere, under any external lighting or even without it, thanks to the backlight. Traditionally for Garmin, a strong point is GPS navigation and navigation in general. There are different modes for coordinate recording frequency. This is not so important for walking routes, but it does help conserve battery life. The battery, by the way, is quite capacious. Without GPS and with occasional syncing with a smartphone, the watch can last on a single charge for 20-30 days. If you use the GPS UltraTac mode, which involves recording coordinates every 60 seconds, you can expect 35-40 hours of autonomy. In any case, it can be charged in the field with a regular power bank. Besides this, the watch has an altimeter, accelerometer, thermometer, and a whole host of additional features, including a full set of functions for fitness, running, and multisport. When buying such an expensive item, you expect it to maintain its appearance for as long as possible. But here, after just three months, the paint on the screws in the lugs and the back cover started to peel. The body is resistant to impacts, but it scratches, and that doesn't make it look good either. |
