Garmin Epix is a square smartwatch from 2015. In the Gen 2 version, the device has radically changed and has become close in spirit to the family of the seventh "Phoenixes".
Round AMOLED screen
The competitive advantage of the watch is a round AMOLED screen with full touch controls and Always On function. The display is made in the size of 1.3", the image on it is broadcast in high resolution 416x416 pixels, which provides a high pixel density of 453ppi. The screen surface is covered with protective glass Gorilla Glass DX. Another feature of the display is colour animations of the correct execution of exercises during training.
Respectful battery life
The device captures detailed activity parameters for a huge list of sports disciplines: running, cycling, swimming, climbing, golf, etc. A whole galaxy of onboard sensors is involved in data recording: barometric altimeter, compass, gyroscope, accelerometer, heart rate monitor, pulse oximeter, GPS module. With the geolocation system turned off, the watch stays “afloat” for up to 16 days, which is really impressive. With active tracking on all satellite systems, the battery lasts for 32 hours of battery life, and if you also listen to music — for 9 hours.
Proprietary Options
Of the branded “buns”, the model implements PacePro functions for tracking the training strategy and adjusting it “on the go”, Real-Time Stamina for managing the load during activity to avoid burnout, and the watch is also ready to work with the Garmin Coach adaptive running machine. Of course, the watch could not do without an NFC chip integrated into Garmin Pay payment systems, and a 100 ATM case water protection. A couple of cherries on top of the cake — tracking sleep, stress levels, respiration rate and a pre-installed women's calendar.
