Does a full frame make a difference? Is it worth buying a full-frame camera?Do I need to spend money on an expensive full frame or is it better to buy a cropped camera?..

Decoding Sony Camera Series and Model LabelsIn this article, we will focus on decoding the Sony camera series.
Large sensor with good dynamic range and high working sensitivity. Fast burst shooting, 24 fps. Compact, durable, and lightweight magnesium alloy body. Bright lens, excellent for portrait and still photography. 4K resolution video. Presence of a digital viewfinder, convenient for taking photos in bright sunlight. It has saved me several times on snowy beaches and snow fields when it's very bright. The battery lasts for 700-900 shots. The main screen is not very bright, and there were situations when almost nothing was visible on it. |
An excellent camera that is always with you, full control over the shooting process, great image quality. I can gladly recommend it for purchase, the camera has "saved" many vacation trips. The quality of the photos is top-notch, no smartphone can even come close. 1'' sensor with good dynamic range, working ISO up to 1600 in JPEG and up to 3200 in RAW. Bright lens, excellent portraits, convenient for focusing in product photography. Beautiful blurring. Fast continuous shooting, 24 frames/sec with constant autofocus. It's worth noting the presence of a retractable viewfinder, which has been helpful several times in sunny weather. The small size of the camera is both an advantage and a disadvantage. It's not always convenient to hold at arm's length. The main screen does not please with brightness and detail; you can address the first issue by increasing the brightness in the menu, but this will increase the consumption of the already small battery. |
I bought the camera a couple of years ago for a trip to Vietnam, as I was categorically dissatisfied with the quality of photos from my smartphone. The camera caught my attention primarily because of its size, metal body, and light weight. I was choosing between the Va and VI generations of the RX100 series, the latest at that time, and decided on the Va because it has a lens with a larger aperture, which I have never regretted. The images are very sharp, the lens is bright with f/1.8-2.8 aperture and has a versatile focal length equivalent to 24-70mm. It takes excellent portraits, object, and panoramic shots, which is exactly what you need for vacation photography. The sensor is large for such a compact camera, with a working ISO up to 3200; beyond that requires editing to remove noise, but quality losses are inevitable. Among convenient features, I constantly used the built-in viewfinder. It is small, but it was incredibly helpful for shooting in bright sunlight. The camera can take photos and videos and charge simultaneously from an external battery, which was very useful. It records 4K resolution video, which I filmed rarely, but have no complaints about the image quality. Compact size, metal body, and lightweight Large sensor, excellent detail Fast lens, takes excellent portraits Built-in optical image stabilizer Built-in optical viewfinder, indispensable for shooting in bright sunlight or rainy weather Fast continuous shooting, convenient for capturing a moving object Can shoot and charge the camera simultaneously Battery is small, lasts for 600-800 shots or 2 hours of video recording. Not very comfortable grip, especially when the charging cable is inserted. The main screen resolution is small, would like it to be bigger. |

I turned my attention to the market of compact cameras with large sensors, non-interchangeable high-aperture optics, and manual settings. There aren't many such cameras, mainly from Sony and Canon. After coming to the store and testing cameras from these brands practically, I chose the Sony RX100 V.
The main reasons for this choice were, first of all, sharper shots with an open aperture, a more compact and lightweight body, 24 fps continuous shooting speed, and the ability to shoot and charge the camera simultaneously.
I compared it to the Canon G5 II, took pictures under the same conditions; the image quality on the Sony was more vibrant and rich, with considerably higher sharpness in the corners of the frame. I managed to display the photos from these cameras on an IMac 27'' screen right there in the store, and after that, I had no doubts about what to buy.
I've been using the camera for over a year now; it has accompanied me to several countries and has never let me down. It takes excellent night shots, ISO up to 1600 is completely usable.
Additionally, I want to note the presence of a viewfinder and a touch screen; they have saved me several times in challenging shooting conditions.
