Mobile Phones Samsung series Galaxy Flip (foldable smartphone)
Samsung Galaxy Flip Series
The idea to release a bendable smartphone has not left the minds of IT giants for many years now. However, even at the design stage, the enthusiasm of the majority disappears and things usually do not reach beyond IT exhibitions. One of the few companies that continued to experiment in this area and succeeded was Samsung. At the end of the last decade, Koreans launched 2 completely different lines of folding smartphones: Galaxy Fold clamshell books and Galaxy Flip “toads”, which fold horizontally right in the middle of the screen.
And if the overly expensive Galaxy Fold was designed for geeks and entrepreneurs, devices from the Galaxy Flip series are at the level of traditional flagships (approx: around $ 1000) and aim more at the mass consumer. Unlike the Galaxy Fold, the Flip's display doesn't fold vertically like a book, but horizontally like old flip phones. When folded, such a smartphone is a compact device that is convenient to carry in your pocket or purse. When opened, the user has a large screen on which it is convenient to solve any tasks. At the same time, the quality of their displays is not so ultimatum, and the cameras are more modest than those of the handsets from the Fold series. Otherwise, they are similar to each other, even despite the two-fold difference in price.
The most interesting and relevant option in the Flip line is the Galaxy Flip4 smartphone, which was presented in August 2022. By itself, it is an advanced device with a high-end 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED display, advanced hardware (Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 + Adreno 730 + 8GB RAM), 5G, wireless charging and other handset amenities costing around $1000. Things get interesting when a smartphone starts to take advantage of its size. For example, it allows you to answer calls or make contactless payments without opening the smartphone case. At the same time, Flip4 can be "bent" at almost any angle to take selfies from unexpected angles. Plus, the device was equipped with a reinforced aluminium frame that protects the smartphone from falls. And the smartphone itself is able to survive a 30-minute immersion in water to a depth of half a meter (thanks to IPX8 protection).
