The family of 6-core AMD processors of medium power, based on the all-new AMD Zen 4 microarchitecture (code name Phoenix). The Ryzen 5 Phoenix series processors include models 8400F, 8500G, and 8600G. They are based on the Zen 4 architecture and designed to deliver high-performance computing power with enhanced graphics capabilities thanks to the integration of RDNA 3 graphics.

Like the previous generation of Ryzen Phoenix processors, the 8000 series is geared for working with DDR5 memory, supports AMD EXPO technology, and is intended for installation on motherboards with the AMD AM5 socket, which AMD announced in 2022 as a replacement for the outdated AM4 socket. The cores support multi-threading technology, allowing each core to execute two computational threads simultaneously, thereby increasing the overall performance of the processor.

Thanks to the optimized architecture, the Ryzen 5 Phoenix provides more than a 20% performance boost under single-core load compared to past generation counterparts from the Ryzen lineup. The new platform is aimed at the widest audience—from computer enthusiasts and gamers to creative authors and developers. Gamers may be attracted by the Ryzen 5 Phoenix chip versions with built-in Radeon 740M/Radeon 760M graphics, which are sufficient for modern games at 1080p resolution with an acceptable level of performance and medium graphics quality.

In fact, we are talking about performance at the level of the discrete GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card, but with support for the AMD FSR upscaler and Fluid Motion Frames generation. The Ryzen 5 8600G is a long-awaited APU upgrade from AMD, combining a large number of processing cores with a powerful integrated graphics card. Built on Zen 4 architecture with six physical and twelve computing cores. The cache size is halved compared to the Ryzen 7000, but the RAM frequency is higher - 6400+ MHz.

Overtakes GeForce

The RAM must be installed in dual-channel mode to get a wide 128-bit bus for the integrated Radeon 760M video card. It has eight clusters of graphics microcores of the RDNA 3 architecture. On motherboards with the B650 chipset, it can be overclocked to over 3000 MHz. As a result, in games the Radeon 760M slightly outperforms the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and almost catches up with the GTX 1060 / GTX 1650.

Neural networks

The previous AMD Vega integration is generally half as weak. In addition, RDNA 3 has a media encoder with support for the latest AV1 codec, both for movie playback and for editing and streaming.
