The AMD Ryzen 5 9000X processor lineup belongs to the Granite Ridge family and represents the third generation of AMD CPUs for the AM5 platform. The series includes several 6-core/12-thread processors that differ in base and maximum clock speeds (from 3.9 GHz to 5.4 GHz, depending on the model), as well as in the presence of integrated graphics. All processors are based on the Zen 5 architecture, designed for the AMD AM5 socket, support the PCIe 5.0 interface and DDR5 memory with frequencies of up to 5600 MHz.

A Lucky Dozen
The Ryzen 5 9600X is the entry-level processor model based on the Zen 5 architecture. While Intel has abandoned Hyper-Threading technology, AMD continues to develop SMT multithreading. This processor has six physical cores and twelve virtual threads. The base operating frequency of all cores is 3.9 GHz, while in Precision Boost mode, one core can reach up to 5.4 GHz.
Keeper of the Legacy
The B840 and X870 motherboards were released alongside the Ryzen 9000 processors, while backward compatibility with the A620 and B650 platforms was retained. However, an AGESA BIOS update is required for operation, although most AM5 motherboards are equipped with a button for automatic flashing using a USB flash drive. Support for the PCIe 5.0 interface, by the way, depends more on the specifications of the motherboard itself than on the processor.
Nanometer Combo
Despite the stated TDP of 105 W, the 9600X generates less heat in practice. This is made possible by a combination of technologies: the chiplet with CCD cores is manufactured using a 4 nm process, while the IOD with cache and graphics uses a 6 nm process. However, even the boxed version of this processor does not come with a Wraith Stealth cooler, just like other Ryzen models with the X suffix. In the Tray version, the warranty period is reduced to one year.
