Everyone has heard about smart TVs for a long time, but what about smart monitors? This is a relatively new class of devices that Samsung started promoting in 2021. In fact, it is a hybrid of a conventional monitor with a Samsung smart TV based on the Tizen OS. In such a solution, Samsung sees an excellent opportunity to create a chameleon gadget that can change throughout the day depending on the user's needs.

At the start , the line included three devices: the older 32-inch M7 model plus two M5 models with a choice between 27 and 32 diagonal. Most monitors in the series are based on high-quality, but far from the most advanced VA-matrices. Their reaction speed is 8 ms, and the scan frequency does not exceed 60 Hz, so it is better to find another option as a monitor for games. Perhaps, smart monitors are best revealed in the role of a working monitor that turns into a TV.

During operation, the smart monitor can be rotated as you like, adjusting the height, tilt or changing the position from horizontal to portrait. You can connect additional peripherals to the built-in USB hub, and use the smartphone as a brain for the monitor using the DeX docking station. That is, to actually work behind the monitor without the need for a computer. Fortunately, the operational capabilities of modern smartphones allow you to turn such tricks. Well, when the working tickets come to an end, you can get the remote control stuck behind the sofa, command it to "start Netflix" and turn on a new series of some restart of the old show with racially and gender diverse characters.
