— this abbreviation, literally meaning "red, green, blue", refers to multi-colour backlight systems in which the shade of the glow can change during operation. Almost all laptops with this feature are gaming (see "Suitable for"); in general, RGB is the most advanced and at the same time the most common type of backlight among gaming devices. At the same time, the specific functionality of such systems may be different. So, the simplest kind of RGB backlight supports only a few basic colours (usually a little less than a dozen) – although even this range provides very extensive options for customizing the appearance of the laptop to the preferences of the player. Relatively recently, systems have appeared that are also called ARGB – in them user can choose not only basic colours, but almost any intermediate shades.

It is also worth mentioning that only this type of backlight can have a synchronization feature (see "Control and Security"). And some top-end gaming laptops feature keyboard 4-zone RGB backlight, or even customizable backlight for every button that visually separates the buttons from the rest.
