Architecturally, their CPU consists of four high-performance and four energy-efficient cores. The graphical accelerator now has 10 cores, which increases graphics performance by third. The neural engine in Apple M2 is about 40% faster, and the chip adds powerful ProRes video engine for hardware acceleration of video encoding and decoding up to 8K resolution. For the M2 generation, external 6K displays are supported.
