As Noctua's market research has shown, its favorite combination of silver and brown is not to the liking of all gamers. Especially if the plans include a gaming assembly with an open stand and an abundance of address lighting, in which the brown colour looks frankly inappropriate. In order not to lose money in vain, in 2019 the eminent Austrian brand launched a new Chromax CBO modding line. It includes already existing Noctua super air coolers from other product lines, which were completely repainted in black.
For example, in the ranks of Chromax you can find a completely black version of the most popular NH-D15 tower, which has been in the top sales for 8 years. This is a two-tower CBO, in which six copper heat pipes connect two arrays of aluminium fins, and between them there is a pair of very branded fans with a diameter of 140 mm. It shows impressive efficiency even after all these years and barely makes any noise even at peak load. Plus, it mounts without problems, is friends with all current sockets, and also boasts an excellent bundle and a 6-year warranty.
In addition to the NH-D15, other hits in black were released in the Chromax series. For example, the tower CBO NH-U9S, equipped with a massive radiator made of aluminium and copper, as well as a quiet small-sized fan on a self-stabilizing bearing. Another interesting case of going to the dark side is the NH-U12S tower with a silent PWM cooler and a relatively low heatsink that minimizes conflicts with other components during installation. The original version of this cooler was released back in 2013.
