Don't forget to buy or enable higher then 240Hz report rate of the mouse! It can be a limiting factor and rotating in games and cursor in OS will not look as smooth as it can be. 240Hz and low latency and response looks awesome, every detail is visible. Much closer to the CRT. CRT is still ahead, because of low-persistent (flashing) type of display. In my opinion, ~500Hz will be required to achieve smoothness of CRT monitors. Due to very high FPS, even natural motion blur of objects starts to appear in games that don't have it or if it is disabled! That is amazing! Banding and flashing in near-black gradations. This monitor has 2 major flaws:
1. Blacks are crushed, so there is no difference between 10 lowest color value (out of 255), as you may see on the provided photo with a chart. This depends on the brightness settings, so looks like it is a physical limit. If you use higher brightness, a little more gradations become visible. 2. Banding and flashing of the white subpixel. There is visible banding when white subpixel turns on in static images, as seen in the provided photo with crosshair. Also this banding intensifies when the image is moving, because when white subpixel turns on from the off state, it flashes brighter then needed and this is visible. Asus' 2023 Flagship OLED Monitor
Asus ROG Swift PG27AQDM is the flagship model of the Taiwanese brand Asus, built on an advanced matrix from LG Displays and aiming to answer the question of what the ideal gaming monitor should be in 2023-2024. If you are familiar with this segment, then you know the general recipe: we use a top 10-bit matrix with outstanding brightness, color rendering and contrast, minimize the delay time during signal transmission, add FreeSync/G-SYNC support and place it all in a stylish frameless edge-to-edge case with Asus Aura Sync backlighting.
Unrivaled image quality
The key difference between this model and other flagships of the brand is the use of a full-fledged OLED panel, which has the highest static contrast, natural color rendition and incredibly deep black colors. On such a monitor, you will want to replay all your favorite games, especially enjoying night scenes in HDR mode with a refresh rate of 120 to 240 Hz. It offers a level of image quality that seemed unattainable a few years ago. For example, the night scene with the escape on a boat in Uncharted 4 takes on new colors, not to mention replaying Dead Space or Alien Isolation.
Game mode with advanced features
In terms of additional features, the Asus ROG Swift PG27AQDM monitor lives up to its flagship status. It includes a dual USB hub for connecting peripherals (but no DisplayPort or Power Delivery mode), and a convenient stand allows you to adjust the tilt and rotation of the screen. The built-in gaming mode provides the ability to display a timer, FPS counter, and lock the crosshair on the screen. However, it is strange that Asus completely abandoned the built-in speakers. Nevertheless, having a full-fledged DisplayWidget software for customizing the monitor with a mouse is definitely a convenient feature.
