Glass body/back cover
— devices with a back panel made of glass.Usually, special tempered glass is used for such purposes — including such a variety as Gorilla Glass. (For additional convenience, bodies made of this material are also placed in a separate filter, their specifics are also described there). However, regardless of the type of glass, all such bodies have a number of common features. On the one hand, they look stylish and modern, besides, they retain their original look for a long time due to their high scratch resistance. At the same time, glass, although more expensive than plastic, but not too much, so it can be found even in inexpensive models. On the other hand, glass panels are quickly covered with prints and tend to slip in the hands — especially since they are usually made glossy (see "Back cover (body)"), although matte surfaces have similar properties. At the same time, glass, even tempered, is still a rather fragile material and does not withstand bumps and falls. As a result, you either have to be especially careful when using the device, or cover the rear panel with a protective cover (which nullifies all the aesthetic advantages of such a solution).
As for the frame material (see the relevant paragraph), the glass cover is most often supplemented with a metal coating on the bezels — this has a positive effect on reliability, since it is the bezels that are most susceptible to impacts. Noticeably less common are bezels made of plastic, used for the same reasons; they are cheaper than metal, but less durable. And in some devices (mainly top-tier), the bodies can be entirely made of glass.
