Barometer
— the presence of a barometer in the phone — a sensor that allows you to determine the current atmospheric pressure.This feature is found almost exclusively in smartphones (see “Features”), so how the barometer is used is essentially determined by the applications available on the device. The most traditional use of such a sensor is the assessment of the environment, as well as weather forecasting. In particular, data on the actual pressure can be useful for people with increased weather sensitivity (to determine if the state of health is related to the current weather situation); and certain changes in pressure can be a sign of an upcoming change in the weather, some weather applications are able to consider such changes. Another popular way to use the barometer is navigation, namely, the assessment of the difference in altitudes on the ground from the difference in atmospheric pressure. Some applications are able to do this automatically, but if desired, such calculations can be done manually. Other, more exotic uses of this feature are also possible.
