Smartphones with HDR support
HDR
— the support of high dynamic range — HDR.This feature is intended to widen the range of brightness that can be reproduced by the screen. Simply put, an HDR display is capable of displaying brighter whites and darker blacks than a standard screen. From a practical standpoint, this has two advantages. Firstly, the quality of colour reproduction is improved: the colours are more saturated and at the same time more realistic. Secondly, the visibility of individual details in very light or very dark areas of the image is improved — such details do not “sink” in white or black.
The disadvantages of such screens, in addition to the increased cost, include the fact that in order to use all their capabilities, the content being played must also be recorded in HDR format. At the same time, there are several specific formats nowadays, and not all of them are compatible with each other. So before buying a device with this feature, it is worth clarifying which HDR technology (technologies) the screen supports and whether you will have access to the corresponding video and games.
