10 bits is actually the highest colour depth found in today's consumer grade monitors. This figure corresponds to 2 ^ 10 = 1024 shades for each base colour (red, green, blue) and, accordingly, more than 1 billion shades per screen as a whole. This provides very accurate, detailed colour reproduction. On the other hand, keep in mind that such monitors are not cheap, and to use the full capabilities of a 10-bit screen, you will need an input signal of the appropriate quality. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to models with such a colour depth, first of all, if the monitor is needed for professional work with colour — drawing, design, layout, video editing with colour correction, etc.
