— as the name suggests, DisplayHDR True Black 500 is a VESA standard for displays with deep blacks and high contrast. Currently, only monitors with OLED panels meet this standard, thanks to the ability to control the backlighting of each pixel individually. This significantly enhances detail in shadows or dark scenes, while monitors without True Black certification appear more "washed out" due to the backlighting characteristics of standard LCD panels. Compared to DisplayHDR True Black 400, True Black 500 monitors have higher brightness, making flashes, highlights, and bright objects (such as neon, headlights, lamps, reflections on metal) more noticeable and impactful, while maintaining subtle gradations in shadows. Examples where this stands out: night scenes in movies, HDR games with flashlights or fire in the frame. In any case, if you prefer a brighter image, this option is preferable for you.
