Windows 10 Pro
— the professional edition of the Windows 10 operating system, the most functional of the freely sold ones (the Enterprise and Education editions are distributed only under special licenses). It differs from the Home version by the presence of corporate and some other professional tools — such as setting up the Update Centre and remote desktop. Considering that these functions are usually not needed in everyday life, and the Pro edition costs much more than the Home edition, it makes sense to pay attention to this option primarily for specialists and IT enthusiasts. Also note that, in addition to the classic Windows 10 Pro, nowadays this OS can also be found in the S-mode edition; it is described below.Overall, Windows 10 is the newest version of the Windows operating system to date. It replaced Windows 8.1 (number 9 was skipped for technical reasons) and introduced many innovations: the built-in Cortana voice assistant, the Edge browser, support for multiple desktops, updated Start menu and notification centre, radical modernization, updating standard pre-installed programs, etc. P. Besides, initially the system differed in high degree of integration with mobile OS Windows 10 Mobile; however, the smartphone version proved unsuccessful and is no longer in use today.
As for S-Mode, this is specific edition of Windows 10 Pro, created for maximum security (at the cost of limiting functionality). So, various programs can only be installed from the Windows Store, the ability to install from third-party sources is not available; only standard Microsoft Edge is available as browser, and Bing is available as built-in search engine. This narrows the user's options, but significantly reduces the risk of malware infection on the computer, and also allows the system to work efficiently even on relatively weak hardware platform. The creators position S Mode as the best solution for the educational sector, but in general, this edition is well suited primarily for simple tasks like Internet surfing or working with documents. At the same time, it is possible to switch from S-Mode to regular Windows 10 Pro for free — however, this action cannot be undone, and most often it leads to significant performance losses.
