Assassins’s Creed

— a series of action-adventure games, including (as of 2018) 11 main games from Ubisoft and an equal number of spin-offs from other developers; the first game was released in 2007. The plot revolves around the conflict between two organizations — the Assassins (protagonists) and the Templars (antagonists), with the action of different games taking place in various historical eras — from antiquity to the early 20th century. The narrative arcs are framed by a science fiction setting, and the main action essentially represents an alternate history. One of the distinctive features of the classic games in this series is the unique gameplay with parkour-style movement (climbing walls, jumping between rooftops, etc.), as well as an original stealth mechanic that includes "social" capabilities (such as the ability to blend in with a group of people to avoid attention). The game worlds are open; in addition to storyline missions, players also have access to optional side quests.

The main games in the Assassin's Creed series have been released on all major desktop platforms, while the spin-offs have been primarily available on consoles and mobile platforms.
