The very first Dirt (Colin McRae: DiRT), released in 2007 for PC, PS3 and Xbox, is the sixth installment and the latest game in the series, created in collaboration with the famous racing driver Colin McRae. In connection with the death of McRae in the same year, the following games in the series were released under the DiRT brand, without the "Colin McRae" prefix, although they retained the traditions of the series.As of the end of 2019, the DiRT series itself includes seven games. These include mostly classic rally simulators, with the exception of the DiRT Showdown (2012) "racing without rules". Colin McRae Rally games in general and DiRT in particular are highly appreciated by critics and fans, some titles are considered almost the standard of thematic simulators. At the same time, some games, in addition to the traditional career mode, also include very unusual formats, including multiplayer ones — for example, the Epidemic and Invasion game modes in DiRT 3.
