Gears Of War

— a series of shooters that stands out noticeably from many games in this genre: it uses a third-person perspective, and the player's character has a relatively small health reserve, requiring the player to actively use cover for success in battle. A whole system of interaction with various objects has been developed for this purpose, with different ways of moving to cover, shooting from behind it, and so on. The plot unfolds in a science fiction setting and is based on the confrontation between humans and a race of conquerors—underground anthropomorphic reptiles called the "Locust." The first game in the series was released in 2006 for Xbox 360, in 2007 for Windows, with a re-release for Xbox One in 2015 and for PC a year later. As of the end of 2019, the series includes 5 main numbered games, the spin-off Gears Of War: Judgement (2013), and the mobile game Gears POP! Additionally, a turn-based tactical game, Gears Tactics, is in development. It is worth noting that the Gears Of War games were primarily created for Xbox: for example, the second and third parts, as well as Judgement, were released exclusively on this platform, and only the fourth and fifth parts received a Windows version again; titles from this series are not available on PlayStation at all.
