The Dutch manufacturer Philips has been active in the computer monitor market for many years, but until now the company did not have a separate line for gamers. This omission was corrected in 2023 with the launch of a new series for gamers, Philips Evnia, which at the start included rather expensive 4K OLED panels, and then they were accompanied by simpler and more affordable IPS monitors.
Advanced level Evnia monitors are usually made according to a similar pattern. In most cases, this is a fairly large curved panel with a working diagonal of 34 to 49 inches and a 4K resolution. As a rule, the matrix is not 8-bit, but 10-bit with an expanded sRGB color wheel coverage and a Delta E value of less than 2. The vertical scan frequency can reach 240 Hz, and the pixel response time does not exceed 1 ms GtG (or 0.3 ms MPRT), and HDR10 technology is provided to further improve image quality. Support for AMD FreeSync Premium and Premium Pro technologies helps eliminate screen tearing for a smoother gaming experience. These monitors stand out from their competitors due to their proprietary Ambiglow adaptive backlighting.
However, the greatest demand in the series is for classic gaming monitors with long-tested IPS matrices with display diagonals from 24 to 27 inches. By the standards of their class, Philips Evnia monitors demonstrate a fairly high-quality picture with adequate color reproduction and have the basic gentlemanly set of a modern gaming monitor. Namely, a fast matrix with a response speed of a couple of milliseconds, a refresh rate of at least 160 Hz, mandatory support for FreeSync/Adaptive-Sync, Flicker-Free and modern digital interfaces. By the way, this is a rare series in which you can buy an inexpensive 27-inch monitor with a curved screen and enhanced immersion.
