Gears Of War

— a series of shooters that is noticeably different from many games of this genre: it uses a third-person view, and the health reserve of the game character is quite small, and in order to succeed in battle, the player must actively use cover — for this, a whole system of interaction with various objects, with different methods moving to cover, shooting from behind it, etc. The plot unfolds in a sci-fi setting and is based on the confrontation between people and a race of conquerors — underground anthropomorphic reptiles, nicknamed "Locust" (Locust).

The first game in the series was released in 2006 for the Xbox 360, in 2007 for Windows, with a re-release for Xbox One in 2015 and for PC a year later. At the end of 2019, the series includes 5 main numbered games, the spin-off Gears Of War: Judgment (2013) and the mobile game Gears POP!, and the turn-based tactical game Gears Tactics is also in development. It is worth noting that the Gears Of War games were created mainly for the Xbox: for example, the second and third parts, as well as Judgment, were released exclusively on this platform, and only the fourth and fifth parts again received a Windows version; on PlayStation, titles from this series are not available at all.
