Death Stranding

— one of the newest modern game series: the first part of the same name was released in November 2019 for PC and PS4. According to the plot, the action of Death Stranding takes place in the near future after a certain global cataclysm that split human society into separate isolated cities, separated by deadly wastelands. One of the threats to face is the "rain of time" called Timefall, which accelerates the passage of time for everything that falls under it. The player will take on the role of a courier who moves important items between individual cities and tries to re-link individual communities into a single whole.

The game is a kind of mix of genres: third-person/first-person action game in an open world with multiplayer elements and a number of original solutions. In particular, character death sends the player not to the last load point, but to "purgatory"; during the time spent in it, the main game world continues to evolve based on the actions taken by the player before. In addition, the player's abilities include movement and interaction with the environment outside the body of the game character. The mentioned multiplayer elements, in addition to the traditional cooperative mode, include the ability to send various items to each other without directly intersecting in the game world. The game was game designer Hideo Kojima's first project since leaving Konami; talking about its genre, he argues that there is no unambiguous name for the Death Stranding genre — similar to how the games of the Metal Gear series were called simply "action" at the time of release, and only much later received the prefix "stealth".
