HDMI connector laptops
HDMI output
— laptops equipped with HDMI outputs. Note that in this case we are talking about full-size connectors; devices with miniHDMI and microHDMI are moved to separate selection points, the features of such outputs are also described there.HDMI is the most popular modern interface for working with HD content — high-definition video and high-quality sound, including multi-channel. This connection uses digital signal transmission format and allows you to broadcast video and audio over single cable. HDMI inputs are extremely popular among modern monitors and TVs, and they are also widely used in many other types of video equipment. Therefore, the vast majority of modern laptops are equipped with outputs of this standard. The only notable exception is Apple devices, which have been using another similar standard since 2016 — DisplayPort (including in the form of miniDisplayPort and as part of the Thunderbolt interface — see the relevant paragraphs).
Also note that in modern technology there are different versions of HDMI. However, they are mutually compatible with each other, and even the earliest current version is suitable for transmitting images in resolutions up to 4K 30 fps inclusive, as well as 3D video. So it’s worth clarifying these details mainly if you plan to use the HDMI output for more specific tasks — full-fledged UHD 4K broadcasting at 60 frames per second, working with HDR content, etc. As for the number of outputs of this type, then they are almost never provided for more than one — for laptops this is considered quite enough.
