M.2 SSD laptops
SSD M.2
— laptops with at least one M.2 SSD. This may be the only type of storage, or it may be combined with other types of storage — most often HDD or SSHD (see "Drive Type"). M.2 modules with NVMe support, as well as those belonging to the Optane series (see the relevant points), are also included in this category.M.2 is specialized connector originally designed for SSD drives and other advanced peripherals in compact sizes. It can use two connection formats: the relatively old SATA 3 with speeds up to 600 MB / s, as well as PCI-E (supporting up to 4 data lines), where speeds are already measured in gigabytes per second. The specific interface of the M.2 connector needs to be specified separately, however, the second option is most often used in laptop drives — it allows you to realize all the capabilities of modern solid-state memory. Thus, most modern laptops with SSD modules use the M.2 connection for such modules; drives under the SATA connector (which was originally designed for hard drives) are becoming less common, mainly among outdated models and individual low-cost configurations. And for full guarantee, you can choose device with NVMe support (see the relevant paragraph).
